SPINNAKER Dumas DIVER

This great-looking diver is the latest model in Spinnaker’s vintage collection that also includes the previously seen HASS; is the Dumas, named so after the famed scuba-diving pioneer. Frédéric Dumas,

who collaborated with Jacques Cousteau on several of his legendary underwater expeditions during the 1940s, 50s and 60s. He was also a leading undersea archeologist in his own right.

The Dumas has an unmistakable vintage style not too dissimilar from watches like the Seamaster 120 AKA The Baby Ploprof or even its bigger brother the Seamaster 600.

At least it has that same robust angular diving-instrument-like quality that was so popular in the 1970s. Its hexagonal silhouette contrasts perfectly with its round unidirectional rotational, lumed divers bezel.

With a marine-grade, corrosion resistant Stainless steel case, water-resistant to 30 atmospheres and equipped with a Milanese mesh bracelet, the Dumas isn’t just a pretty face, it has been built to perform in the same conditions as its namesake did all those years ago.

Its compact dial has been carefully designed to offer legibility quickly with an emphasis on the minute hand serving as the crucial gauge of elapsed dive-time. The diamond-cut hour hand echoes the strong lines of the case while further distinguishing it for easy reading.

Further features include: C3 lume, a K1 hardened mineral crystal, and a display caseback affording a view of  its Japanese made Miyota self-winding movement with 21 jewels. MSRP is 420USD.
