DELTAt Heavy ARMOR

Here’s some more out the box thinking from DELTAt’s multiple award-winning designer, Hiro Cheng who has created a new diver concept known as Heavy Armor.

Apart from being a bit of bruiser of a dive watch, DELTAt’s Heavy Armor came about from the desire to create a watch with the ability to transform its appearance.

It does this thanks to an interchangeable armor-set system that allows you to easily dress your watch up or down.

Unlike more traditional system where you might exchange the entire bezel itself, the Heavy Armor’s system is comprised of sets of 6 individual plates.

Each plate is attached to the bezel below via two large hex-type screws – a total of 12 per set.

At the moment these include 4 different styles: diver, plain as well as skeleton i & ii sets –

however I’m pretty sure that we will eventually see sets that are not only in different anodized colors –

or with different IP coatings but knowing DELTAt from previous models such as the quirky yet strangely epic, NBS.

- also with the possibility of being made from different materials such as aluminum bronze that you will be able to mix and match with each other creating no end of possibilities.

The Heavy Armor comes with selection of 5 different sunburst dial colors – black, blue, green, orange and red.

The dials boast snailing, large luminous double-baton markers as well as the Heavy Armor logo in red at 12 o’clock and a date aperture at 6 o’clock.

Divers features of the watch include: a Sapphire Crystal with anti-reflective coating, a Helium Escape Valve, an 8.9mm screw-down crown,

a unidirectional rotational divers 120-click diver bezel and 1000 meters of water-resistance.

Finally the Heavy Armor’s Surgical grade 316L Stainless Steel case houses a Japan Time Module (Seiko) Cal. NH35 automatic movement with a hacking seconds function.

It will be interesting to see how the watch feels in the steel. So what do you think – something cool and a bit different, right?
